All the BIG Rumors Heading Into E3 2016

With E3 right around the corner, the rumor mill has been kicked into high gear. While some companies have opted to make their announcement before next weeks festivities begin, there are still plenty huge rumors floating around. Here's a look at some of the BIG rumors heading into E3 2016.

Microsoft

Xbox One Slim

Microsoft is rumored to be revealing an Xbox One Slim during its E3 conference this year. The Slim, rumored to be 40% smaller than the current Xbox One, will reportedly be out this Fall. A Slim isn't a far shot for Microsoft, as the publisher released multiple Slim versions of the Xbox 360 that were also announced at E3.

Xbox Scorpio

The big hardware announcement surrounding Microsoft is that a new, iterative Xbox One console will be announced. Codenamed Xbox Scorpio, the system is reportedly targeting 5-6 Teraflops of power, compared to the 1.32 Teraflops the current system operates at. There have also been talks of a partnership with Oculus Rift. A VR focus would explain the extra power. While the system is heavily believed to be real, it's uncertain whether it will be revealed at E3 or at a later date.

Dead Rising 4

There has been a rumor of a "zombie online" game that will be revealed at E3 2016 by Microsoft. It's uncertain whether that pertains to Dead Rising, State of Decay, or both. But after recent images of a Dead Rising 1 remake/reboot surfaced online, it's highly likely that it will make an E3 appearance.

Sony

PS4 Neo

Similar to the rumored Xbox Scorpio, Sony is reportedly gearing up for an iterative upgrade system of their own. Codenamed PS4 Neo, the system is targeting 4.1 teraflops of power and will likely need to release this Fall. According to the rumors, all games on the Neo must also run on the standard PS4. Along with VR support, as Sony has their own VR system in the works, the Neo will also be able to handle 4K.

God of War 4

One of the biggest franchises for PlayStation, it's about time we hear more from God of War. The fourth numbered entry to the series is rumored to be shown off at Sony's conference this year. The game itself has had multiple leaks showing off a Norse mythology theme, and the title could possibly be a headliner for the PS4 Neo.

Spider-Man

Sony is rumored to have a AAA Spider-Man game in the works. While rumors that Infamous developer Sucker Punch are being the game, there hasn't been anything to leads to this conclusion other than the absence of any other announcement by the studio. Another fact that leads credence to this rumor is the 2015 deal between Sony and Marvel over the hero. A big game to go along with their movies surely wouldn't hurt.

Bethesda

Skyrim Remaster

Before Fallout 4 release, Bethesda confirmed that they used Skyrim to get acclimated with current generation systems. So it's highly likely that the ground work, at the very least, is already there for a Skyrim remaster. More recently, images have cropped up online showing a retail listing of November 2016 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Definitive Edition. With Bethesda holding their second E3 conference this year, a Skyrim remaster could very well be their big title to show off.

Wolfenstein Sequel

Wolfenstein has definitely made a comeback with The New Order and The Old Blood. Voice actor Alicja Bachleda who played the role of Anya Oliwa in The New Order stated that she was working on recording a sequel to a video game she did voice acting for. A simple look at her IMDB page reveals that Wolfenstein is the only video game shes worked on. A new title for the franchise will likely make its debut during Bethesda's conference.

Warner Brothers

Shadow of Mordor 2

Monolith Productions has been quite since their 2014 release of Shadow of Mordor. With new information coming to light, it looks like a sequel is certainly in the works. Famous stunt actress Lauren Mary Kim has worked on various high profile films and video game CGI trailers. Listed in her CV was the line "Shadows of Mordor 2 – Stunts/Acting – Blur". The listing has since been deleted, which all but seals the deal that the game is underway.

Suicide Squad

The rumors of a Suicide Squad game date back to 2010 when DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns confirmed the game was in development stating it was "very violent". More recently Warner Montreal has been hiring for developers with AAA and Unreal Engine experience. With Arkham Knight confirmed to be the final Arkham game, and the Suicide Squad film releasing this year, E3 2016 may finally reveal this anti-hero action game.

Superman

Yet another resume leak leads to evidence of a Superman game in development. An animator by the name of Kieran Turan had this in his LinkedIn profile, "Troubleshooting and repair of the 3D facial rig for the upcoming "Superman" videogame title for GameOn Audio." GameOn Audio has worked with Warner in the past with Batman: Arkham Knight and Batman: Arkham Origins. Considering DC Comics is a subsidiary of Warner Bros, a jump from Batman to Superman wouldn't be unexpected.

Resident Evil 7

This rumor comes from two sources. One being a tweet by the CEO of industry consultancy Kantan Games, Sekan Toto in which he stated,

1) About Resident Evil 7: Yes, it's in development. The entire game will go back to RE's horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate.

2) They will show it at E3. The RE7 team hired Jordan Amaro, a designer who previously worked on MGS V and P. T. at Kojima Productions.

The other source being Capcom themselves. In a financial report by Capcom, under the headline "FY3/17 Sales Plan for Major Consumer Titles", three games were listed: Monster Hunter Title, and two unannounced games. One of the unannounced games is planned to sell in the range of 4 million units. Outside of Monster Hunter, Resident Evil is the most likely candidate to hit that mark.

Gwent The Witcher Card Game

CD Projekt Red, on June 6th, filed a trademark for Gwent The Witcher Card Game under "video games" and "software" complete with a logo. With the amount of success garnered by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the popularity of the in-game activity Gwent, a stand-alone title makes sense.

Red Dead Redemption 2

The foundation of this one is shaky at best, even for a rumor. Rockstar is most certainly working on their next big release after GTA V and a sequel to Red Dead Redemption is the best guess. There have been multiple rumors floating around about a leaked image of the map, and another showing off a lone house in the desert, both rumored to be from Red Dead Redemption 2. It's unclear whether these are real or fans desperate attempts at finding any scrap of truth.
