New Destiny Year-Two Info Revealed

New information has been revealed for the second year of Destiny as we approach the release of The Taken King. Big changes are coming in the way of a new voice actor, Legendary weapons carrying over to TTK, and XP progression.

Nolan North Replaces Peter Dinklage

Bungie has hired Nolan North as a voice actor for The Taken King to take on one of the most important characters: your Ghost. Not only will he be voice your Ghost for TTK, but North has also gone back and re-recorded all of the original lines from the main campaign.

“I was really excited to do this role. You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.” - Nolan North

“We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty.” - Creative Director, Luke Smith.

So players starting from the beginning of Destiny will hear North instead of Peter Dinklage. Say so long to "That Wizard came from the moon.".

Legendary Weapons

To our friend DOA hed's demise, Bungie has decided to not continue the power level of Legendary Armor and Weapons from Year-One into Year-Two. This means that every Year-One Legendary weapon, will be decent at the beginning of The Taken King, but once you start unlocking new weapons they will essentially become useless due to being under-leveled.

TTK will also introduce new white, green, blue, and purple gear to provide a meaningful distinction between new and old weapons.

Bungie did this exact same thing with the original game and the Dark Below expansion. After a huge backlash, the system was changed for the more recent House of Wolves expansion. Has Destiny made the same mistake twice?

New Leveling System

Another new change coming to Year-Two is the leveling system. The new level cap is now 40, but what is more surprising is that players will be able to hit it by gaining XP from killing enemies, completing missions, bounties, etc.

Videos and screenshots have surface in the past of Level 49 gear being worn. This may indicate that Level 40 is only the base level, and the usual Light Level pushes it even further. Until you read this quote by Luke Smith,

“The conflation of gear and character level led to this place where your identity was determined by things outside of your control. We don’t want to do that.”

Which essentially means they don't want the Light Level forcing players to get lucky to increase there rank. So there you have it, Light Levels are gone.
