New Mode Announced for ARK: Survival Evolved

Studio Wildcard has announced a brand new game mode coming to the popular open-world dino game, ARK: Survival Evolved.

The “Survival of the Fittest” mode introduces a brand new last man standing, fight-to-the-permadeath contest, designed to create a completely new dynamic in the world of ARK.

This Saturday, August 1st, popular stream personality Goldenboy along with Kayd Hendricks from Studio Wildcard will be hosting a five-hour long tournament to debut the new "Survival of the Fittest" mode. 35 teams will step into the arena to compete in a PvP "Hunger Games" style battle to the death. The last tribe winning will take home the grand prize of $20,000.

During the event, Twitch viewers will have the chance to vote on Evolution Events. These events alter the battle and include Freak Weather, Dino Assault, Supply Drop, and more.

Here is a quick explanation of the new mode:
In this new mode specifically balanced for tournament competition, contestants begin in a neutral staging area where they can communicate pre-game, strategize, or talk trash. After a count-down, they dramatically descend from the sky onto the ARK in a circular formation via beams of light. There is a cache of valuable items in the center – do survivors dash for the goods and fight it out, do they run into the forest and hide, or do they freeze up from the sheer terror of death? A continually shrinking “ring of death” forces contestants ever closer together over time. The game is on!
ARK: Survival Evolved was announced a few months ago and has quickly become the most popular open-world Early Access game on Steam. Studio Wildcard is planning on releasing it on Xbox One and PS4 Summer 2016.
