Chariot To Be The First Game That Syncs With Home Lighting

Chariot developer Frima Studios and electrical company Phillips have partnered to bring the world a new immersive experience. Chariot will connect with Phillips Hue lighting and change the lighting accordingly in real time. The latest version of Chariot is currently available exclusively on Xbox One.

ID@Xbox Director Chris Charla had this to say:
Chariot has been a great title in our ID@Xbox portfolio since it launched into Games With Gold last year. We’re thrilled that Frima is pushing the boundaries with this new technology from Philips Hue and are really excited to see it come to Xbox.”

The game will be able to control the lighting and change it to reflect what is happening in game at that second. Phillips Hue has over 100 possible colours that it can produce.

Wout Verhagen from Phillips feels Chariot is the perfect debut for the technology:
With its stunning art and mesmerizing environments, Chariot is a perfect fit to demonstrate the full potential of Philips Hue for games and Frima is the ideal partner to help us showcase a technological world premiere

So what do you think? Could this be a the next big thing in immersion that doesn't involve strapping a box on your head or flailing your arms around? Or is it just another gimmick?
