IP's That Need To Make A Console Comeback

With the lack of new retail releases, a million remasters, give or take most of that number, and consoles being oversaturated with indie games this generation, I can't help but think that this gen kind of sucks so far. Now don't get me wrong, there are some amazing games to be played on both the Xbox One and Playstation 4, indie and retail. There's just not enough of them, yet. And living in the age of crowd funding, now seems like the perfect time to revive some older yet beloved franchises. With all of that in mind, I decided to make a list of a few of the franchises I'd like to see make a comeback in the hopes of the right person seeing it and making it happen.

Now I'm sure this list has been done before. I wouldn't even be surprised if the exact same games were on it but if this sparks a thought in the right persons mind and I get to see another iteration of one of my favorite games sometime in the future, this post has served it's purpose.

Note: With these games being as old as they are, I don't feel the need to describe them in detail. If these games are unknown to you, I've linked the titles to each games respective wikipedia page.

Resident Evil with dinosaurs. Sounds awesome right? Yeah, well it is. That's how I remember it anyway but less survival horror and more Jurassic Park. The reason I always compare it to Resident Evil is because the gameplay and camera angles were just like it but it was more of an adventure game than anything.

Now it has been a long time since I played Dino Crisis so my memory might be a little fuzzy but I do remember that I really liked it. I also really liked pizza and The Terminator back then and guess what, I still really like those things.

If Conflict: Denied Ops is what's in your head right now, get that crap the f@$# up outta there because that lukewarm turd is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the real Conflict games, Conflict: Desert Storm, Desert Storm II, Vietnam, and Conflict: Global Terror.

Playing Conflict: Desert Storm through Vietnam in 4 player split screen couch co-op with my friends and family was some of the most fun I've had while gaming to this day. And when Conflict: Global Terror released and I had my first experience with 4 player online co-op, there was no looking back when it came to co-op gaming. Online or bust. These games were just plain ol' fun and Foley was a beast!

Do I even need to say why this series needs to make a comeback? Although I will say that KOTOR was my introduction to rpgs and Bioware and I have been hooked on both ever since. I even liked the Obsidian devloped Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords

KOTOR was pretty much my introduction to the Star Wars universe as well. I never watched any of the movies entirely until after I played it, only bits and pieces. Even though I've enjoyed all of the movies, this game is still my favorite of all the Star Wars stories that have been told. That I've experienced anyway. And Bioware is still my favorite developer by far. They make something, I buy it.

Another Bioware rpg, Jade Empire is one my top 5 favorite games of all time. Knowing nothing about it, I saw Bioware on the cover and bought this game purely on the fact that KOTOR was so good and that was one of the best spontaneous video game purchases I've made to this day.

I played through it so many times I lost count. Most of those playthroughs towards the end were to try and get the 3-way with Dawn Star and Silk Fox that my friend told me about, which I did, Tiger Shen FTW!, but that's beside the point. The point is that this is an awesome game and a universe I'd like to spend more time in. Even a HD remake of this game would do.

These are just my personal favorites, if you feel that I've missed a game that deserves to be on this list or just want to add your thoughts, feel free to comment below!

  1. I would love to see: Harvest Moon, Onimusha or Shenmue

    1. I've never played Harvest Moon or Onimusha but I hear they're awesome. I actually had Shenmue on the list when I was writing it but then the Kickstarter for it was announced at E3.

  2. Another Time Splitters would be awesome.
